... headed for Bulawayo

This year’s Jikinya Dance Festival finals will for the first time be hosted outside Harare, and the City of Kings will be hosting this year’s finals on 26 November 2011.
This years’ Jikinya Dance Festival will be running under the theme, “Expressing Zimbabwean Culture Through Dance.”      The Jikinya Dance Festival showcases various traditional dances by primary school pupils around the country.

Final preparations

Traditional Dance Groups and Musical Bands are gearing up for this year’s Chibuku Neshamwari Traditional Dance Festival and Chibuku Road to Fame competition, respectively. Both Competitions are coordinated by the NACZ in partnership with the, Delta Beverages. Whereas Neshamwari is managed by Zimbabwe National Traditional Dancers Association.

Arts and Culture Personnel Development Workshop

The National Arts Council of Zimbabwe recently participated in an Sports, Arts and Culture Personnel Development Workshop, organized by the Ministry of Education Sports Arts and Culture in Gweru. Mr. Tsaukai Mututwa (Assistant Director-Administration and Finance) represented NACZ.

The National Arts Council of Zimbabwe appreciates the growth in the arts industry which has been witnessed by the proliferation of beauty pageants in the country. However, anyone who wants to promote the arts should be registered and  cleared by the National Arts Council of Zimbabwe, and meet the requirements to promote a show, event or activity. Thus, like any other arts promoter, beauty pageant organizers should thus register with NACZ. The National Arts Council of Zimbabwe is empowered by the National Arts Council of Zimbabwe Act of 1985, to regulate the arts industry as part of promoting the development of the arts and culture sector in Zimbabwe.
